Advanced Facilitation Skills Workshop

Creating a safe space for challenging conversations and outcomes

Workshop Aim

This is an advanced level workshop for skilled facilitators who wish to deepen their skills to facilitate challenging conversations and create a safe space for participants to share openly. This workshop will enable you to use a range of interventions to manage the discourse and possible conflicts that may happen during a robust session and guide the participants to meet the session objectives.

Pre-Requisite

Participants are expected to have completed the Inquiring Dialogue Process Facilitation Workshop or similar facilitation skills building workshop and are familiar with the various commonly used facilitation tools.

Course Objectives

At the end of the workshop, the participants will be able to:

1. Design and structure a facilitated session that effectively meets the specified session objectives.
2. Create a safe and inclusive environment for members, in particular where sensitive conversations are involved.
3. Create and hold the space for participants to have honest conversations and robust discussions to enable the team to come to consensus.
4. Intervenes effectively to re-direct the group back to the task at hand.

Training methodology

The workshop methodology includes brief facilitator inputs, group discussion and appropriate and relevant self and group discovery activities. At least 70% of the course consists of active learning activities. The activities are engaging, appropriately designed and structured to illustrate key concepts and aid application. The workshop will be practice and feedback based.

Workshop Facilitator

The workshop is designed and facilitated by Ng Choon Seng, International Association of Facilitators (IAF) Certified Professional Facilitator – MASTER (CPF/M) and the first IAF CPF Assessor in Singapore.  He is also the only World Institute for Action Learning Certified Master Action Learning Coach in Singapore.

Choon Seng is acknowledged as a veteran in the industry as an experienced facilitator both in leading facilitation sessions as well as training and developing new facilitators.
